Salvador Dali Exhibit at PMA

A new exhibit featuring the works of Salvador Dali opens this month at the Pensacola Museum of Art. A free opening reception is scheduled Sept. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the museum.

The exhibit, entitled “Controversial Lines: Late Prints by Salvador Dali,” features more than 50 works from the artist. The prints hail from late in the artist’s career, and from both public and private collections. The exhibit also features works by icons of Pop Art, such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtnestein, demonstrating Dali’s influence on art history and post-Surrealism.

Dali live from 1904 to 1989, and is considered one of the most famous and controversial artists of the twentieth century. He created oil paintings, drawings, sculptures, theatre and fashion designs, jewelry, book illustrations and prints.

“Controversial Lines” runs at the PMA through January of 2017. The exhibit, which includes art from the local museum’s permanent collection, is organized with the support of the Dali Museum and the Mobile Museum of Art.
