Road work began this week (of Oct. 3) along a six-mile portion of Perdido Key Drive. The work involves a slate of upgrades and is expected to be completed by the winter of 2017.

The Florida Department of Transportation project encompasses a 6.3-mile stretch of State Road 292 (Perdido Key Drive), running from the Alabama state line to the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge. The project entails milling, resurfacing, minor drainage improvements, guardrail replacement, selected sidewalk removal and replacement, Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades, and placement of new signs and pavement markings.
This project is being done at a costs of $2,702,300.94.
According to FDOT, drivers should expect daytime lane restrictions in the impacted areas. Construction activities are weather dependent and updated information is available on FDOT’s Facebook page.
