The Wall South Vietnam Memorial in Pensacola is getting 140 new names etched into its granite surface. The additions to the memorial will be made March 29, at 3 p.m.
According to a press release from the city of Pensacola, the updates to the memorial are due to extensive research by volunteers and members of the Veterans Memorial Foundation. The names are of individuals identified as casualties of the Vietnam War since the Wall South was constructed in 1992. The update is being funded by a grant from the Bear Family Foundation.
The Wall South Vietnam Memorial, a smaller replica of its Washington D.C. namesake, is located in Veterans Memorial Park in Pensacola. The local park is home to multiple memorials.
The newly etched names in the Wall South memorial will be unveiled during the Memorial Day ceremony in May.
